"Powerhouse of the Cell" is an article about mitochondria published in Scientific American in 1957. A Google Books Ngram search shows that the phrase gained popularity in published works around this time but it may have already been in use among a smaller community starting in the early 1940's.How do we all know the phrase "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell." like was it a famous book that coined the phrase or something? I really need to know.
