National vs. AP exam dates
In case you were wondering, Nationals coincides with a few days of AP exams. Assuming you leave thursday morning, you'll miss (in order): Macroeconomics, World History, Microeconomics (all on thursday), and on friday, Human Geography, Spanish Lit, Latin Lit, and Latin Vergil. This is just so you know.

Re: National vs. AP exam dates
that's awful. do you think they'll change the date? or is it already set in stone?
and a question for you guys that have been to nats - This year it looks like the actual event competitions will be on a saturday. Can you fly in friday night or do you have to be there earlier? The reason i ask is because if we go [which we probably wont] my friend doesnt want to miss school on thursday or friday so she was thinking about taking a plane after school on friday to get there in time for the competition on saturday. We probably wont even end up going but this year is the year that we have the best chance

Re: National vs. AP exam dates
Well, on friday, there is the parade of states, and most importantly, the swap meets, which NO ONE wants to miss. Also, experimental is still the day before, i believe, and since youre flying from Massachussets, leaving Friday might not give you a lot of time to get settled in an everything. And its kinda stupid, since theyre both national events. They should learn to coordinate better. On the bright side, I took world already and im not taking any of the other ones.

Re: National vs. AP exam dates
I just linked her to this thread and her response was "I couldn't care less about a stupid swap meet" so it looks like she'll take a different plane on Friday. She told me that she doesnt even want to go to nationals but i've been trying to tell her that it would be really fun but she just doesnt care. oh well, we probably wont go anyway so i guess it doesnt matter

I like your teammate's style, Pleiades! She knows her priorities.
Incidentally, I believe that there are make up dates for AP exams, so this might not be an issue for people anyway.

Re: National vs. AP exam dates
Thats good to know. And Pleiades, your friend has obviously never been to a swap meet, or she wouldnt be saying that. It is immensely fun, and you get a whole lot of cool stuff from other states. I started a keychain collection from the swap meets. I got some cool ones, and its a good way to meet people from other states. Of course, if you arent taking any AP exams on Friday, it may just be easier to leave thursday afternoon. There, problem solved.

Re: National vs. AP exam dates

Re: National vs. AP exam dates
I'm the one that pleiades was mentioning above.
I'm not stupid just because I don't want to go to a swap meet, I just feel that school is more important than socializing with strangers.
strangers are scary!!!
I'm usually a nice person, just in MA. Sorry!
I'm a good person in Chicago Illinois too. I love their cheesecake! Mmmmm Cheesecake.
If I were to swap, I'd swap some MAINE lobster for some Cheesecake. Mmmmm cheesecake.
