Are you thinking about something like Source Code (but I guess Source Code doesn't have a timed question). I was really hoping Source Code would replace Code Busters especially considering that it has been run as a trial event.

I didn't know that was a trial event, but from reading the wiki page it sounds a lot like what I'm thinking of. I really think the timed problem would be a cool addition and it could make a great event.

There's also Amazing Mechatronics, which has been trialed in VA and NC and is being trialed at Nats this year. You have to use an Arduino to perform as many of a list of tasks as possible in a specified time.

Mechatronics is just an awful event, at least how it was run in my experience - there is such a steep learning to Arduinos that once you know what you're doing, it's very hard to differentiate between people.

Speaking of Source Code, I really think we need to get that as a trial at Nationals. I know that's basically a prerequisite to becoming an official event. Michigan has done a lot of good work with Source Code as a trial event and has proven it to be pretty successful. I'd love to see it tried at Nationals

They are definitely gonna keep game on so they can get that juicy sponsor money from Code.org

Yeah, I agree it could use a fair bit of work—the challenges run at VA states last year weren't super complex, meaning that separating the top teams becomes difficult. I'm curious to see how it's run at Nats this year; hopefully they've improved that issue, because if they haven't it'll be kind of a mess.

I think they ran out of good Aviation events so we're stuck with Wrights Stuff for this long.
