I agree that high school is better than middle schools (the teachers are funnier at least at my school) but there is a whole lot of awkwardness between the guys and the girls because I’m middle school we all didn’t really talk to each other, so now things are weird for most of us (not me though. I am friends with everybody) so if there is any weirdness between the genders, try to fix it because once you start, it gets harder and harder to fix (even if you try holding grade Zoom calls because then if it’s just girls the guys won’t join because they are “afraid,” I guess, so you call them out on it and they don’t like it but they don’t do anything about it.)

Honestly, I don't really care about the genders of my friends, because if I like their personality, I'll become friends with them. Also, my second year of middle school just ended, and I was speaking from experience- I used to tag along with people who didn't realize I was there. It was a stressful shift, but I kinda started spending some time alone, and some people (my current friend group who I love so much) noticed my and started hanging out with me. 7th grade was the most turbulent year I've ever had, and I'm glad it was, because I now have experience, and I know who to stick with. I've learned to stand my own ground, and be who I am, instead of "going with the flow". If I see that something's wrong, I learnt to stand up for what I believe in. Even now, there's people who despise me, because I'm not very agreeable, and I'm very assertive. And I'm okay with that, there's gotta be people who don't like me. But my main advice is- it's better to be alone than hang with people who don't know you're there. I do well when I'm noticed, and even my friends say that I'm someone whose presence is known. Sorry for the big paragraph of rant/advice, it's not very organized.

Also with the finding your own "tribe", I feel like I've done that already. My friends and I have a lot of MEMEorable MEMEories about the time we spent together. And I love them, because they support me, and I support them too. We all know for a fact that we're gonna stick through high school, because we're sick and tired of moving "friend groups". Heh, we already decided what to do at prom- probably not go and try to summon demons at 3am.

It becomes complicated when you catch feelings for one of your friends or vice versa, and the other party doesn't feel the same way, and things just get really awkward really quickly.

edit: by no means am I saying that you shouldn't be friends with people because of their gender, i'm just saying that it could get awkward if ^ happens.

That's true. And don't get me started on how shipping people together forcefully becomes awkward- the whole group kinda collapses. But also I don't really catch feeling quickly, I rarely like someone, and that's not because I'm picky.

My default lunch table group is all girls, guys are boring, they just play video games the entire time. Just find people who suit what you're looking for in a friend group, doesn't even have to just be a group, I like being friends with people.

The important thing is just to do what makes you happy, and to not bother with something that doesn't. If you find something doesn't work for you, then don't do it! You can stop or start something at any time - don't let someone tell you you can't.

Yea, I'd avocate for thinking along this line as well, that friends are just people. Who cares what gender they are? I know boys and girls who like talking about the cool robot they built, and boys and girls who like talking about nail polish. Obviously relationships makes the entire sphere more confusing, but that just happens in friend groups no matter the gender identity of the two people involved.

Yea, this, too. At the end of the day remember that while it may be hard, if you are in a friend group, remind yourself that you do not have to stick around with any of these friends. You can totally get away from them. Sure, it might be a little challenging, but remember that a lot of great things come after a little challenge and adversity! You can do it <3
