Boils are caused by Staphylococcus aureus and are large painful lump on the back of the neck, softens over time, not caused by injury. -caused by skin infection of hair follicle or gland. - start as red, tender lumps. These fill with pus, grow, then rupture and drain, and are on hairy areas w/ friction & sweat A carbuncle is a cluster of boils.
5. As it has more harsh UV radiation, it can lead to a greater incidence in skin cancer
6. They form as a result of the skin trying to protect itself from friction and pressure
7.80 bones - sternum, vertebral column, ribcage, skull bones
8. Hematoma -> fibrocartilaginous callus -> bony callus -> remodeling of bone
9. It can increase absorption of many organic components of the bone, especially Calcium.
