Looks like both New Trier and Stevenson are pretty strong this year, with Stevenson doing better superscore if you don't count their 34 in WIDI. It also looks like New Trier stacked their Grey team, pretty unfortunate that they didn't get a single gold across the 19 events.

Re: Illinois 2021
I've been hearing some rumors that there are teams who have historically competed in our region for many years that are not competing this year or haven't started up yet for this year's season. Not sure how it is with other regions in the state, although I would think there would be similar patterns. I don't want to be much of a pessimist, but I think that the team count could go down this year by even as much as a third although now that i think about it a third is kind of pushing it...pb5754 wrote: ↑December 7th, 2020, 11:13 amidk about this year, but 383 teams registered in 2019 (as per this https://scioly.org/wiki/index.php/Numbe ... _per_State)knightmoves wrote: ↑December 6th, 2020, 11:33 pm Anyone know how many teams registered this Covid year vs a normal year?
If it does go down, I'm curious to see how a few things will progress as the season moves forward:
-the distribution of state bids at regional competitions: would ISO decide to increase the number of state bids this year if they go with a remote format for state? How would that compare to declining numbers of teams in the different regionals?
-How some teams do in comparison to past years considering the many factors (online competitions, district/school restrictions, starting the season late, etc.) I don't know how much this could shake up nats bids and top 5 teams, but I could definitely see some of the more local teams getting a spotlight at state and some middle-ground powerhouses falling a little bit behind.
It's really early to think about all this, but it's been on my mind for a few days now.

Re: Illinois 2021
Trends from other states are showing about 20-30% participation rate compared to past years.

Re: Illinois 2021
So sad to see this happen to the community. I wonder if the number will bounce back after schools/businesses re-open or if it will be a gradual increase.
happy new season!

Re: Illinois 2021
Is this figure just for GA, or an average across all states? I've seen 115 PA C teams registered, compared to the typical ~200 or so, which is around 60%. pb5754 and I also counted 31 NJ C teams that registered for invies (NJ registration hasn't started, so that's the only figure that's available), compared to the ~70 we have on a typical year, totaling at over 40% without main NJ registration.
