It looks to me like it's a mnemonic for remembering quantities related to periodic motion and waves, where moving along one of the sides of the cube results in applying the operation given. If you know the linear frequency, you can find the linear period by moving along the edge that says to take the reciprocal, and the same thing for a lot of other quantities too.
