DUSO (Duke) 2022 Invitational - Registration Open

Post by dukescioly »

We are super excited to announce that Duke University Science Olympiad will be hosting the fourth annual Duke Invitational on January 15th, 2022! Registration is NOW OPEN! More information + updates can be found on our website at https://dukescioly.org.

This year we will be hosting our tournament under the Satellite SO model. On Scilympiad, all tests will open on January 15th, 2022 at 9am ET and close on January 16th, 9am ET. Teams will still have a time limit of an hour to take the tests, but may take them any time over the 24 hour time period (subject to change). Grading will occur throughout the week; results will be announced and awards will be shipped the following weekend. Due to logistical constraints, the tournament will run 20 of 23 Division C national events, as well as the trial events Botany, Digital Structures, and Write it CAD it in place of Ping Pong Parachute, Detector Building, and WIDI. Tests will be written by experienced alumni at Duke and former Science Olympiad competitors from the highest level of competition!

Any school can register up to 4 teams and registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. Similar to last year’s tournament, we tentatively do not have a cap on the number of teams that can participate. There is a registration fee of $40, with $20 for each additional team. We are also willing to help teams that need financial aid or planning to come to our tournament! We hope to open online payment by the earliest of November 8, but updates will be provided on scilympiad and our website!

We hope to see you at our tournament in January! If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

This graph shows the relationship between questions answered and final score. As can be seen, there is a positive correlation between the two, showing how teams that attempt more questions typically do better. The Moral of the Story? Don't be afraid to guess & answer more questions!
