How to measure height?

Post by MichiganMom »

One of the parameters required in the graph is the height that the parachute/rocket reaches. Any suggestions for measuring the height?

Estimate it. If you are lucking enough to have a laser distance measurer, measure the height of the ceiling. If not, use other means (like counting cinder blocks, etc.) Then estimate how high the rocket got based on how high the ceiling is.

In WS, we know height of ceiling, height of basket ball rims, and height of top of backboard, all of which help estimate to within a foot.

Height of gym can also be checked with a helium balloon and string, measure string length after touching balloon to rafter.
