List of Tasks
Students must remove a magnet from the device, starting the first action. The removal of magnetic force must set in motion the rest of the device.
Students must utilize a chemical reaction to inflate a balloon that strikes an object at least 20 cm away from it, which continues the sequence of events.
Students must utilize a reaction, probably chemical, which activates the next task based on the reduction in temperature.
Students must utilize a reaction that produces light to activate a photo cell and triggers the next action.
Students must add water to a closed container so it completes an electrical circuit and triggers the next action.
Students must use an infrared beam so a transmitter and receiver 20cm apart begin the next action.
Students must use light to initiate the next action.
High IMA Pulley Task
Students must use a pulley system with an IMA of at least 7 that lifts an object of at least 500g 10 vertical cm before it triggers the next action.
Low IMA Pulley Task
Students must use a pulley system with an IMA of 0.50 that lifts an object of at least 500g 19 vertical cm before it triggers the next action.
Students must use the mechanical advantage of all 3 classes of levers in sequence before triggering the next action.
Coin Flip Task
Students must flip an unmodified US quarter airborne so that it goes from heads to tails before it triggers the next action.
Gas Expansion Task
Students must use a change in temperature that expands a gas to trigger the next action.
Students must activate a student made electromagnet that triggers the next action.
Students must make the device play a recording of the phrase "The End" to signal the end of the run.
