R.C. Murphy Junior High School is located in Stony Brook, New York. The school competes in the Eastern Long Island Regional Tournament, alongside their sister school Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School. The school is part of the Three Village Central School District. The school feeds into Ward Melville High School. The school qualifies for the New York State Tournament almost yearly. Although the team has earned 3rd place at the state competition several times, they have never earned the 2nd place spot required to qualify for the national tournament. In the 2017-18 season, the team scored 2 points away from the nationals bid.
