Regional Tournament

A Regional Tournament is a competition that determines which teams advance to the State Tournament in any given state. It is the most preliminary tournament. Not all states hold regional tournaments, as some states with very few teams may not deem it necessary to hold them. The privilege of advancing to the state tournament is known as a "bid", and each region receives a certain amount of bids depending on the state. Typically, this is proportional to the amount of teams in a given region. For example, one regional in a state has three teams, another has 15, and another has thirty. The regional with thirty teams may have seven bids to the state tournament, while the regional with three may only have one. This is done in order to ensure that competition is fair and plenty of teams have the chance to advance.
