West Ottawa High School is a Division C school located in Michigan's Region 12. West Ottawa started Science Olympiad in 2000 and became one of the strongest teams in the state. They also formerly hosted the annual West Ottawa Invitational for Divisions B/C. The team folded in 2021, with both coaches quitting, and the team as at the time of writing defunct.
West Ottawa High School struggled in its first several years of Science Olympiad in the early 2000s. However, they saw extraordinary improvement as they gained more experience (and members). Now West Ottawa has placed in the top 10 at the Michigan State Tournament for the past thirteen years, including being the State Champion in 2005. West Ottawa has also represented Michigan at the National Tournament five times, most recently in 2011.
