Central Pennsylvania Regional
Template:RegionalInfoBox The Central Pennsylvania region is held at Millersville University. The 2021 Division C competition was held virtually from March 10-13, 2021. Division B teams combined with the Southwest and Northwest regional teams to temporarily form the West Regional.
The region currently primarily serves the following counties: Adams, Centre, Clearfield, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, Snyder, Union, and York.
History
The Central regional first began competition in 1989, when it formed primarily out of the Eastern Regional (now Southeast Regional). While its individual membership of teams has shifted from year to year, its overall geographic coverage has remained mostly unchanged since then.
In 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Division B iteration of the Central regional was not held. Instead, teams competed in the temporary West Regional with teams from the Southwest and Northwest regionals. The Division C iteration was held virtually, with participation from some teams from the Central East Pennsylvania Regional, which was not held.
Past Regional Champions
This is a record of the past Regionals champions and runners up, and their respective places at the state competition. Scores at the regional competition may be shown in parentheses. In most recent years, Division B has sent 5 teams to the State Competition, and Division C sent 5 in 2008 and 2009, but only sent 4 before that. Also, after 2007, State College Area High School, a strong team in the region, changed to the Northwest Pennsylvania Regional. They returned to the Central region in 2012.
In 2019, 7 B teams and 6 C teams qualified for the state finals. In 2020, 7 B teams and 7 C teams qualified for the state finals.
