The Cornell Division D invitational is a Division D invitational held by Cornell University in the state of New York. Its first ever iteration was held on December 10th, 2019 and featured 11 teams composed of 2-4 Cornell students in grades 13-16 competing in three events: Christmas Conifers, Gingerbread Architecture and Jingle Juice. The top three teams in each event as well as the top three overall teams were recognized during the awards ceremony, with the first place teams receiving medals.

Seasons Greetings

Teams construct a holiday card design together and showcase to the rest of the competitors.

Sounds of Santa

Participants answer questions based on Holiday songs, shows, and movies using a distributed audio file.

Type it Craft it

Teams designate members as typers and crafters. Given a Holiday-themed craft, typers write instructions on how to build the craft, then crafters use a kit to reconstruct the structure. For 2020, the given craft was a Santa figure riding a sleigh.

Christmas Conifers

Participants answer questions about the history, science, and fun christmas facts surrounding conifer trees.

Gingerbread Architecture

At the beginning of the event, teams will be given a gingerbread house making kit and instructions for designing and building a device that can be tested.

Jingle Juice

Participants will demonstrate their cooking, baking, or drink making abilities in the spirit of the Holidays.
