Harlan Rowe Middle School is a Division B team that competes in the Northeast region of Pennsylvania. They feed into Athens Area High School.
They have competed in Science Olympiad for many years, qualifying for the state tournament in 2006 and 2008, but they did not qualify for states again until the 2017 Pennsylvania State Tournament. They followed that up in 2018 by attending invitationals such as the Cornell Invitational, and finishing first in the region. They then placed in the top 10 in the state for the first time at the 2018 Pennsylvania State Tournament. In the 2019 season, they placed 10th and 25th at the Rustin Invitational, and 5th and 16th at the Garnet Valley Invitational. At the 2019 Pennsylvania State Tournament Harlan Rowe made nationals for the first time, outplacing Shady Side Academy Middle School and Bala Cynwyd Middle School in an upset. In the 2019 National Tournament at Cornell University they placed 15th, totaling 415 points.
