Welcome... to SVMS Scioly.

Sierra Vista Middle School is a Division B school located in Irvine, California. The city of Irvine is located about 40 or so miles southeast of the city of Los Angeles, CA. Our afterschool club program currently has 28 members. We compete in the Orange County Regional Science Olympiad and the highly competitive Southern California State Science Olympiad.

We also created a beautiful picture of the magnificent Blobfish. We borrowed this mascot from Cerro Villa Middle School.

We won 4th place at Orange County Regionals this year (behind Ladera by 3 points!!)

Friends, Enemies, and other relations

Our school has a historical rivalry with our neighbor: Jeffery Trail Middle School. They may often perform better than us, but we have more dankness.

We have somewhat friendly relations with the other Irvine teams (Rancho San Joaquin and Venado), and other OC schools such as Brea, Ladera Vista, and Fisler.

We see Kraemer as pretty OP. Are they using hackz? That's up to you to decide.

Our school typically feeds into Northwood High, one of the best Div C Scioly teams in SoCal. We also feed into Irvine High. However, NHS Scioly is extraordinarily difficult to get into especially as a freshmen, therefore very, very few of our members get into NHS Scioly; we are usually beaten by Jeffery kids.

Goodbye Muscatel. You were a great competitor to compete against.

Our Program

At the 2016 Southern California State Competition, we placed 15th, with 361 points. This is an improvement from last year, where we placed 16th with 393 points. Jeffery got 6th >:(

Our program had 28 members during the 2015-16 season. We only have one head coach, two other assistant coaches, and a group of amazing parents every year. We have historically been the second most successful team in IUSD, behind our longtime rival, Jeffery Trail (who is our rival in almost everything).

Our proudest achievement this past year was getting 4th at the Kraemer Invitional. We did not see that coming.

We almost always go to states, where we usually perform somewhat ok.

Our practice schedule is one weekly meeting after school for around 2 hours, and one hour long meeting during school per week. We are also free to meet up on our own time after school and such.

For our leadership structure, we just select one person to be team leader. They really don't have any power; all they do is give speeches every now and then. Its almost just a symbolic thing.

Our support from our school sadly plummeted last year, leading to reduced funding. For building events, the parents buy our supplies or we just take stuff from previous years.

Our main goal is to surpass Jeffery Trail. We would also like to rank at states someday and hopefully make it to nationals. Our long time goal is to give SoCal its first National Division B win since the early 1980s.

We are doing this man. We're MAKING IT HAPPEN.

This past year, we didn't have enough members to have more than one team. Generally, 8th graders have priority over 7th graders.

Our mascot is the Charger Horse.

Some facts for your entertainment

-We have two Air trajectory machines named Herman and Averman, and a Bottle rocket launcher named Sherman

-One of the members of our team, A_ram_2k16, is the founder and CEO of Avicorp

-Our school has a penchant for making cults.

-We have all our irons in the fire. All of them

-We became friends with Brea after some antics at the Kraemer basketball courts. There was a lot of flirting and scaling of athletic equipment involved.

-Also at Kraemer we created a new sport: Basketfruit. Basketfruit is the greatest game ever created in human history. It is the official sport of SVMS Scioly.

-The current coach at Jeffery used to be our coach :(

-We are known by some as the "Spirit School", due to our unparalleled, and often obnoxious enthusiasm for our teammates.

-We became unofficial allies with Fisler after one of my friends began cheering for them. Also, we like underdogs.

-We see Ladera Vista as one of our allies, since we are incredibly similar to them in strength. Also, they have "Vista" in their name.
