This is a discussion page for the new Team Page template.

Color

I like the color, but in terms of standardization, would it be better for the color to remain neutral? Like, what if the team's main rival's colors are green? I think it looks nice on a team-by-team basis, but maybe not as a color in the template. Eaststroudsburg13 08:59, 2 September 2012 (EST)

That's a good point about the color, I will do something to fix that. Twototwenty 09:35, 2 September 2012 (EST)

For color, I mean like the default or something. Maybe there can be an option within the template for color. I will wait until I hear more from you before going into your template. Eaststroudsburg13 17:09, 2 September 2012 (EST)

O.K., I guess I will have the scioly.org logo color scheme be the default, and make that default changeable. I plan to have it what I consider to be done by Thursday (not wednesday, sorry); after that, feel free to edit it. Twototwenty 19:21, 2 September 2012 (EST)

I just realized since I have my layout scheme changed, the color probably looks more out of place than it would under the default scheme. Carry on. Eaststroudsburg13 20:20, 2 September 2012 (EST)

Template Limitations

I'd like to note here for the entire wiki community that the results can only go back so far, so to create a more in-depth page, you'll have to go outside the template. This template covers the basics. Eaststroudsburg13 09:02, 2 September 2012 (EST)

As far as the limitations of the template, I know. I did add the "Additional text" variable in which someone can write whatever else they want. The template just ensures the page has the basic info, the correct categories, and a nice results history table (it isn't too nice yet; I am plannng on having it completely finished by wednesday, but it is in a working state right now). It's a nice template... but I'm not sure that it will get much use. Maybe for lesser-known teams or something, but most teams who use this site have their own unique design for team pages. Maybe it would help if I knew more of the purpose for this template? Also, invitationals? Zyzzyva98 11:12, 2 September 2012 (EST)

I think the purpose is as a starter for twototwenty's project of adding lots and lots of team pages. I'm not sure if he's going to do every single one, in which case I would suggest to slow down and just do contenders or states participants. Eaststroudsburg13 17:09, 2 September 2012 (EST)

My plan is to create team pages for the teams in New York state which I can find data for (Namely, competition results). My reason for doing this is that I like to be able to look at data of teams and see how they have developed/recessed over the years, and a lot of this data is only posted on state websites for one year, then taken down and lost. My template makes it exceedingly easier for me to make relatively nice team pages for these teams and put that info here. Obviously, I am not planning on applying this template to existing pages with unique formats, but it provides a very nice platform for creating simple new pages. As far as other shortcomings of it, such as no section for invitationals, only being able to take info from 2011 and 2012, ect., just wait until Thursday, by which point I hope to have the template completed and these problems solved. Okay, and once again, if anyone wants to customize their own page, they just go out of the template. Eaststroudsburg13 20:27, 2 September 2012 (EST)

Sounds good. Zyzzyva98 21:34, 2 September 2012 (EST)
