This was my first year of Science Olympiad. I co-founded the team with a friend in January of 2018 as an eighth grader, and while this meant we were under a serious time crunch, our team of 14 still placed eighth in state with 199 points.

In 2019, I decided to return to my middle school's Science Olympiad team as a ninth grader, and became one of four of the team captains leading the (two?) teams. A lot of planning was done during the summer, so we were able to have our first ever "Science Olympiad Orientation" meeting in September and get a head start on things.

2019 was my second year and I somehow managed to do well even while juggling high school classes, Science Olympiad, and other obligations. I didn't expect to walk away with three gold medals and help get our team to second in state, but it happened. My improvement in all my events compared to last year was impressive (except for Crime Busters, but I'm glad we improved at all since we didn't study half the material on the test).
