Currently, I am a tenth-grader at Troy High School in California. My hobbies are studying, science olympiad, and birdwatching. My life list for Orange County, CA, is 206 species.

List of Probable 2012 events:

Microbe Mission

Forestry

Rocks and Minerals

Previous Competitions.

7th grade (Ladera Vista Junior High school.)

In 7th grade, I had my first experience with Science Olympiad. Unfortunately, I fooled around my entire time during the meetings, and dropped out so I could focus on the geography bee. I regret not having had the brains to do both.

8th grade (Ladera Vista Junior High School.)

In 8th grade, I had decided not to do Science Olympiad, however, I changed my mind once I heard Ornithology was going to be an event, as I was already an avid birdwatcher. I ended up competing at regionals in Ornithology, Road Scholar, and Ecology. I ended up getting third in Ornithology, even though I didn't even know the list of birds we were supposed to use. Even though I didn't study at all for Road Scholar, we managed to finish fourth, probably due to my knowledge of maps relating to the geography bee. Ecology, I failed.

Regionals:

Ornithology
Bronze
Road Scholar
4th place
Ecology
10th place

Team: 6th place

About a week after states, I looked at the SoCal states tournament date, as well as the Calfornia Geography bee date, and realized they were one day and 400 miles apart. I have (not so) fond memories of competing in the Geography Bee, then getting in the car and driving nonstop down to Orange County again so I could compete the next day. Needless to say, studying for the Geography Bee State allowed for less studying for Science Olympiad, yet I still managed a silver in fossils, an event I thought we had failed.

States:

Fossils
Silver
Ornithology
7th place
Meteorology
13th place
Road Scholar
14th place

Team : 8th place

9th Grade (Ladera Vista Junior High School)

I was now going to Troy High school, one of the most competitive schools in the nation. On a whim, I decided to try out for ecology, surprisingly, I tied for second among thirteen participants. I had already promised my new coach at LV that I would come back and compete for Ladera Vista. I was slated to compete in Ornithology, Fossils, and Ecology. Then we got the schedule, and I had to drop Fossils, as it was in a conflict with Ornithology. I decided to pick up Microbe Mission instead. Then two weeks before regionals, they changed the schedule again, such that I could compete in Fossils, but not in Ecology. That last minute change in the schedule helped lose us our state bid.

Regionals:

Ornithology
Gold
Fossils
Gold
Microbe Mission
Silver

Team: 7th place

10th Grade (Troy High School)

In tenth grade, I attempted to get on the Troy team, but just barely missed the cutoff for competition, and was made second alternate. However, I was able to compete in SoCal States' first trial event, Codes and Algorithms. With my partner, we managed to pick up a silver medal with minimal studying.

11th Grade (Troy High School)

This year, I finally made it on the Troy team for 4 events: Dynamic Planet, Water Quality, Forestry, and Rocks and Minerals.
