For example, at the 2009 regional competition, Churchill's A and B teams got 1st and 2nd -- the A team had 220 points, B team had around 190 points and Arden's A team came in 3rd with about 186 points. This is the first time since the history of a school being able to have two teams (at the Sac regional competition) that any two teams from the same school have placed first and second.

In 2010, Churchill had three teams (A, B, and C) for the first time. The A team placed 2nd at regionals, losing to Arden by only 1 point! At state, the A team lost by a considerate margin to Arden.

Winston Churchill is and had been the underdog from Arden Middle School for quite some time. Arden has won NorCal championships for 7 consecutive years and Churchill has usually been the runner-up. At regional competitions, however, Churchill is sometimes able to beat out Arden (though it is usually a very close call.) For example, at the 2009 regional competition, Churchill's A and B teams got 1st and 2nd -- the A team had 220 points, B team had around 190 points and Arden's A team came in 3rd with about 186 points.

History

Year Competition Rank
2007 Regionals 2nd A, 3rd B
2007 State 2nd A
2008 Regionals 2nd A, 4th B
2008 State 2nd A
2009 Regionals 1st A, 2nd B
2009 State 2nd A
2010 Regionals 2nd A (lost by 1 point!)

If anybody has any more information regarding placing, please add to it.

(Note: Only one team from each school can advance, that's why B is never at State, even if they make it in the top 3.)
