Winston Churchill Middle School is a public school in the San Juan Unified School District located in the Sacramento area. It attracts many students due to having the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, an academically rigorous program that aims to create a better world through education. Winston Churchill is a feeder school to Mira Loma High School, which is located just a couple of blocks away and also has the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Winston Churchill has been the underdog from Arden Middle School for quite some time. Arden has won NorCal championships for 7 consecutive years and Churchill has usually been the runner-up. At regional competitions, however, Churchill is sometimes able to beat out Arden (though it is usually a very close call.)

For example, at the 2009 regional competition, Churchill's A and B teams got 1st and 2nd -- the A team had 220 points, B team had around 190 points and Arden's A team came in 3rd with about 186 points. This is the first time since the history of a school being able to have two teams (at the Sac regional competition) that any two teams from the same school have placed first and second.

In 2010, Churchill had three teams (A, B, and C) for the first time. The A team placed 2nd at regionals, losing to Arden by only 1 point! At state, the A team lost by a considerable margin to Arden.

In 2011, Churchill A team placed 2nd at Regionals by only 2 points. At state, the A Team got 1st place, beating Arden (who got 2nd place at Nationals last year) by 18 points! Churchill then went to Nationals, getting 8th place overall!

In 2012, Churchill competed for the first time in invitationals at Camas and Muscatel. The A Team won the regional competition, and the B Team took second place. The A Team went on to compete at the NorCal State competition in Visalia, and won first place. At the National level, Churchill persevered and despite all odds and expectations, won fourth place in the nation, with 11 medals, three of which were golds. Woof woof!

Team Cheer

Way up North where the bulldogs roam,

Is a town called Sacramento that we call our home!

So look out for the purple, and look out for the gold,

We'll ace our tests and do our best we cannot be controlled!

So bulldogs, bulldogs, what's your cry?

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!
